Dr Kieran Harrington
Kieran has over 30 years’ experience of working in the fields of language and literacy education (at primary, secondary, further education and third level). For the past 15 years he has worked specifically in the field of literacy, serving as manager of the literacy and language services in the County Clare VEC, the City of Galway VEC, and at present in the Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board,. He also worked as a lecturer on the BA and Higher Certificate in Literacy for the Waterford Institute of Technology between 2003 and 2013.
Kieran also worked as a translator/interpreter for four years in a Spanish company.
Kieran has a BA degree in Spanish and Greek, a Diploma in Translation, an MA in Galician/Spanish Language Planning, an MSc in Educational Management in the field of Language Teaching, an MEd, specialising in the field of language and literacy difficulties, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics.
Kieran has spoken at many conferences over the last 15 years on literacy and language both in Ireland and abroad and is a regular presenter for the National Adult Literacy Agency.
Theresa is a dedicated professional who works from a person-centred approach, supporting adults in identifying, advancing and achieving their goals. She is a reflective practitioner bringing a warm and nurturing disposition to her role.
Theresa’s skillset has been developed from over 30 years’ experience working in Adult Education and Adult Literacy. She has worked across a range of contexts, at home and abroad, in the management and development of Literacy Services and learning supports.
Complimenting this role Theresa also has extensive experience in the education and development of practitioners nationally. She has worked as a lecturer on the B.A. and Higher Certificate programmes in Literacy for Waterford Institute of Technology and as lecturer and co-ordinator with NUI Maynooth on their Certificate for Integrating Literacy in Organisations.
Theresa has also worked as a consultant with the National Adult Literacy Agency, supporting learners and practitioners at training events nationwide. She has also contributed to NALA publications and served on national fora.
As an extension of her role and interests Theresa now offers Guidance and Counselling supports to adults, supporting them to explore, identify and action their learning and career objectives.
Theresa has a BA in English and German, an M.Ed in Lifelong Learning and a Postgraduate H.Dip in Adult Guidance & Counselling
Hugo Harrington Fernández
Hugo has been working as a horticulturalist and a landscaper for the past four years, but he also works in the field of counselling on a part-time basis. He is particularly interested in helping with confidence issues, bullying and addiction. He is at present developing a programme of horticultural group therapy.
Hugo has a BA in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Horticulture.
